I discovered yoga 14 years ago. It has continued to be a solace and a way for me to get back to myself, and into my body. Yoga has been a catalyst for tremendous growth and healing, and it has been the conduit of deep spiritual understanding for me. I am profoundly grateful for the opportunity to share my love and knowledge of yoga after completing a 200 hr. yoga teaching course.
My background is in neurological regulation and the creation of routines and support plans with individuals with disabilities, community development, and education based from nature. In 2018 I completed a forest school practitioners’ course and opened Elements Nature School while living in Edson. I am an avid outdoor enthusiast and am my happiest in the backcountry or snowboarding. I believe nature is the most profound teacher and follow Indigenous pedagogies for this reason. To further enhance my business model, passions, and interests, I began my journey towards a degree in psychology with a minor in sociology in 2022.
In Buddhist philosophy Nirvana is the cessation of suffering and freedom from attachment. Attaining the sense of peace accompanied by this concept is compared it to an island. Supposedly there are 2 kinds of people who reach this island; the first type of person stays at the island, and the second type swims back to shore to bring as many people back to the island as possible. I have been living my life by this philosophy but have recently decided that a third option would be to teach as many people as possible to swim so they can make their own journey to the island of peace and contentment. Yoga is a method for me to share the knowledge and skills I’ve acquired over the years to inspirer impactful healing.
