Our bodies are structures that absorb force and work as a whole system to both stabilize and create movement.

If you've ever felt a pose is awkward,  uncomfortable, or that it hurts in some way, there is almost certainly a way to approach the poses that will change how you experience them.

Here we will learn how to:

*activate from the ground up to take pressure off of your joints

*recruit the entire body into the pose to make it more sustainable

*avoid overuse and stop 'hanging out' in poses

*create a sustainable practice that will benefit your body and mind over the long-term

This workshop is perfect for all levels of practitioners to help develop and sustain a yoga practice for long term well-being.

Supporting Your Yin Practice

In this workshop we will take a closer look at the postures within Yin Yoga and the intent behind this healing practice.  We will explore modifications to the most common yin poses and learn how to utilize props in order to support the body, allowing for more ease within your practice and a deeper, more beneficial yin experience. 

 

Props are a key element to this practice, so please have available a variety of “props” so that you can experiment and find what works best to support you in your practice. Below is a list of SOME of the props that can be used to support you.  This list is not exhaustive, please be creative! 

 

Traditional yoga props are lovely and look nice BUT are not necessary for your practice! These may include:

  • Blocks (cork, foam)

  • Bolsters (these come in a variety of shapes and sizes), meditation cushions

  • Blankets

  • Straps

Classical Kundalini is a form of yoga practice that seeks to open subtle channels in the body through the balanced application of sound, movement, breath work, and meditation. It offers a unique blend of technique and abandon, trust and intelligence, devotion and wisdom. This particular approach was systematized by Yogrishi Vishvketu, founder of Akhanda Yoga, and will be informed by my own experience, insight and experimentation. Come for an adventure through innerspace, your interior, while receiving the support of the collective, the communal, the outerspace of us all. We will have an embodied experience through full length practice (1.75 hours), followed by time to engage the intellect through discussion, reflection, sharing and meditation, accompanied by some homemade, nourishing and grounding treats (important after Kundalini Yoga!) and caffeine-free vegan chai.
